Santos Baby – Blonde, OOAK
This is Linda’s take on Santos dolls. Santos dolls were used as shrines hundreds of years ago expecially in Spain, France and Italy when people didn’t live near churches… and presently they are very big in home decor as are rhinestone encrusted crowns. People would load the doll with medals, crowns, anything they considered sacred.
The jewelry on this doll was repurposed to recreate the Santos Cage doll look complete with vintage Rosaries, medals and ex-votos that Linda found in Paris, Rome and Florence.
This little sweetie has a pale blonde wispy mohair wig and Victorian blue blown glass eyes.
The vinyl for this new series was produced in Germany and the dolls are put together here in the United States. Linda Michel puts together the bodies, paints them, completes the dolls and then dresses and accessorizes them in her Florida studio.
This Santos Baby is wearing a dress of cotton tea-stain batiste with delicate antique lace detailing (circa early 1900’s) and soft angel wings.
Her accessories are a rhinestone encrusted crown, all the jewelry shown (on the doll) and a bead encrusted nest.
