Aschunputtel
The way I see Aschenputtel... Naturally the bowl with the peas couldn't be missing. By the way, every bowl contains at least 113 peas. That amounts to approximately 70,000 clay peas for the whole edition and each pea is sanded by hand. And, of course, the pigeon that helps Aschenputtel to separate the good peas from the bad ones. Then there is the hazelnut choker - the symbol of her dead mother who is buried und the hazel tree. And finally there are her clay slippers.
When you look at Aschenputtel's clothes, you will be able to see how much effort I've put into the symbolism of them and how beautifully they are crafted. The scarf bonnet is completely handmade and we hand-dye the linen in Paderborn. It is held together with torn strips of material, which are hand stitched through the corners. Her clothes are made of linen. All colours are exclusively dyed for us from samples that we hand-dye in Paderborn. The blouse features a manually applied double-layered linen patch. The neckline and cuffs are frayed. The pinafore skirt hemline feature a multi-coloured braid trimming and five double-layered linen patches that have been stitched on by hand. The hemline of the skirt is also frayed. The blouse, pinafore and underskirt are ruffled with torn strips of fabric. All fabrics are hand-washed to achieve the frayed look of the unstitched seams.
