The artist was born in a small village in the Netherlands. She started her professional life as a hairdresser, but a course in doll-making changed everything: she was bitten by the "doll-making bug". Didy is particularly fascinated by infants, she enjoys watching them and their apparent joy as they discover the world around them. Her love for detail completes each doll that she creates from her imagination. Didy’s partnership with Gotz began in 1998. She and Gotz were honored with a 2002 DOTY "Industry Choice Award for Thijs, her sleeping baby.
