This elephant, a reproduction of a piece made in 1903/04, stands on sturdy cast-iron wheels and has a red felt embroidered saddlecloth.  He is stuffed with excelsior and has wooden eyes and playful tusks.  Importantly, this elephant has the original stainless steel elephant logo "Button in Ear"—one of only three 2004 Steiff limited edition products wearing this piece of history!  His consecutively numbered tag is sewn into the back seam of the left leg.
